Things I'd Save in a Fire

The past is long gone,

Still I count on,

The precious things,

Things I’d save in a fire.

The words I read to comfort me,

A cherished heirloom from the family,

You.

Things I’d save in a fire.

I worry about the future's dire,

Yet I cling to what I admire,

The precious things,

Things I'd save in a fire.

Nostalgic whispers from the past,

A journal penned with memories deep,

You, my love, my treasure to keep,

Things I'd save in a fire.

In flames, worries of the future ignite,

Nostalgia for the past burns bright,

Can't repair what has transpired,

Things I didn't save in a fire.
